Description

The lime kilns, located 120 metres northeast of Bramblecombe Cottage, date from the early 19th century and are currently disused. They are constructed from rubble stone, featuring large stone quoins and stone voussoirs around the openings. The kilns have a rectangular plan and are built into the hillside to allow for top loading. The structure includes a square double kiln with round arched openings on the southwest and northeast sides, although the arches are blocked at the rear. To the northeast, there is an extension that includes a third kiln in the end wall. A half arched opening on the front elevation provides access to the second kiln. The kilns are situated to the east of the old quay on Penpoll Creek.
