Description

The building is an early 19th-century house, later used as a guest house, located on Quay Road in West Looe. It is constructed of incised stucco on a probable rubble base, with a dry slate roof and three gabled roof dormers covered in slate. The house has a double-depth plan, with a central entrance leading to a stair hall, and presents a symmetrical three-window façade. It has two storeys and an attic. The windows are likely original hornless sashes, though the glazing bars have been removed, and are set within simple architraves with shallow elliptical heads. The central doorway features an original moulded pilastered doorcase with corner blocks and an entablature incorporating paterae, Greek key details, and a moulded cornice. The doorcase has panelled reveals and a six-panel door with flush bottom panels and a later-glazed top section. A narrow projecting wing extends to the right. The interior retains the original staircase, now with a later balustrade, and the original plan, though partitions have been added, with limited remaining architectural detail.
