Description

Penowl is a village house, likely dating from the 18th century, with a remodelled front from the mid-19th century. The front is stuccoed and features a tall plinth, pilasters at the ends, and a rusticated door surround; the rest of the front is painted rubble. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in rag slate, with brick end stacks. The house has a double-depth plan and a symmetrical three-window facade. It has mid-19th century windows with chamfered, shouldered-arched lights. The upper floor windows are three-light casements over two-light-plus-sidelights canted bays with moulded cornices. The front door is six-panelled, with the two upper panels added later as glazed panels. The interior has not been inspected.
