Description

SW 84 SW KEA

2/106 Potting shed at approx 100m north and east of Killiow House

GV II

Potting shed. Circa mid-late C19. Killas rubble with 3 reused granite Doric columns supporting open south side. Scantle slate roof built as monopitch but further roof over lean-to at rear. Rectangular 4-bay plan open at south front. Single storey. Simple south front with short sections of rubble walling to left and right, and open between with 3 granite columns supporting continuous wooden wallplate. The columns are unfluted and may originally have had bases and possibly were part of a circa C17 Tuscan colonnade of an earlier phase of Killiow House qv. A further reused colonnade formerly supported the front of a cartshed in the farmyard, but only one of these columns now survives in position. Interior has cobbled floor and original roof structure. This building has group value with other listed buildings at Killiow House, qv.
