Cartshed And Implement Store At Approximately 10 Metres South West Of Clowance Farmhouse

This is a cartshed and implement store dating from the mid 19th century, located approximately 10 metres south west of Clowance Farmhouse. The building features granite and killas rubble walls on the rear and left sides, with roughly hewn granite monoliths along the front and the right side. The structure has a grouted scantle slate roof with gable ends, and the right-hand end includes a corbelled gablet that may have been intended for a bell.

The building has a rectangular six-bay plan, open to the west side, and is situated on ground that slopes down to the right. The six-bay open west front is supported by granite posts between each bay, with spacing blocks and moulded bearing pads above each post to carry the wall plate. Notably, the post between the second and third bays from the left has been slightly moved to the right, while the fifth bay features double ledged doors, and the right-hand bay is infilled with studwork clad in weatherboard.

Inside, the original king post roof structure remains intact. This cartshed and implement store is part of a group of unspoiled buildings arranged around a sloping, partly cobbled farmyard, all set within a mature wooded environment.
