Cartshed And Gun Room At Approx 25M North West Killiow House

This building is a cartshed and gun room, dating from around the mid-19th century, located approximately 25 meters northwest of Killiow House. It features mixed rubble walling with granite quoins and jambstones, and has scantle slate roofs that are partly slurried, arranged on three levels with gable ends and a hipped dormer above the gun room.

The layout is irregular, consisting of a single-cell gun room on the left (north), a large four-bay rectangular cartshed open at the front in the center (west), and a smaller two-bay cartshed to the right (south). The building is single-storey. The west front includes the gun room on the left, the large cartshed in the middle, and the smaller cartshed set back on the right.

The gun room has a doorway on the left with a ledged door and a 12-pane sash window on the right, which rises into the roof dormer. The main cartshed has an open front supported by wooden Tuscan columns on granite plinths, while the smaller cartshed to the right features a similar column between its bays. Inside the main cartshed, there is a king post roof structure and cobbled floors. This building is a very complete example of a 19th-century gun room and cartshed range.
