Description
LOSTWITHIEL NORTH STREET, Lostwithiel SX 15 NW 10/113 No 16 - II
House. Possibly early C16 origin, with later alterations, including C19 and C20 alterations and additions. Rendered stone rubble, granite ashlar buttress to left end wall and limestone window to front. Asbestos slate roof with gable ends and gable end brick stack to right, rear lateral stack. 2-room plan, with entrance to right and end right entrance to passage through to rear of house. The room to left is heated by a rear lateral stack and the first floor room to right heated by gable end stack. Probably in the C19, the room to right was used as a shop, and there is a single storey C20 addition to rear left. 2 storeys and 3 windows, first floor has 4-pane sashes. Ground floor has 3-light C20 window, and early C16 limestone 2-light mullion and transom window, blocked, with cusped lights and hollow-chamfered surround. Large 3-light C20 window to right, formerly to shop, C20 door and C20 double doors to end right. the thick left gable end has wall which rises to higher level than roof, and granite ashlar buttress, small recess at ground floor. Eaves level higher at left end, with corrugated asbestos over. Interior Much altered in C20.
