Description

Manor Cottage is a house that possibly dates back to the late 16th century and was altered in the mid-20th century. It is constructed from rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends. There is a stone rubble rear lateral stack on the left and a moulded granite shaft from the late 16th or early 17th century on the stone rubble end stack on the right. The original plan of the house is uncertain, but it likely had three rooms and a cross or through passage plan, with the higher end to the northwest and the lower end to the southeast. In the 18th or 19th century, the house was probably divided into two dwellings. In the early to mid-20th century, the inner room on the left was demolished, resulting in a two-room and cross passage plan; the hall on the left is heated by a rear lateral stack, while the kitchen on the right is heated by an end stack. The house is two storeys tall and is built along a slope, with the ground rising to the left. The windows were renewed in the mid to late 20th century, and the front is asymmetrical with two 3-light casements on the ground floor and two casement windows on the first floor. There is a partly glazed porch near the center, and a lean-to outshot on the right gable end was partly rebuilt in the mid-20th century. The interior was not accessible at the time of the survey in 1986.
