Description
The barn located to the north-west of Lyndale is a Grade II listed structure, likely built in the 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof with hipped ends. The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a fireplace in the end wall on the right (north) side, which has a possibly reset 17th-century granite lintel. The ground floor was later used as a shippon, while the first floor served for threshing. On the left-hand (south) side wall, there are granite posts that once supported an open-sided horse engine house, though the roof structure has been removed. Additionally, the right-hand (north) side wall features a 19th-century lean-to outshot that originally housed machinery for operating a chaff cutter and other equipment. The barn is two storeys high and has a stone rubble external stair near the centre, with a plank door to the left. Inside, the fireplace on the right-hand end has a possibly reset granite hollow chamfered lintel dating from the 17th century.
