Description
The carriage house and stables, located to the northwest of Newton House, date from the 18th century. They are constructed from stone rubble with granite quoins and feature a cement washed slate roof with hipped ends. The building has a rectangular plan and is attached to the gable end of the northwest wing of Newton House.
The structure is two storeys high, with a full-height central opening that has a cambered timber lintel and tall 19th-century plank doors. To the left, there is a door and window with a blocked opening above, while to the right, there is another door and window with a shuttered opening above. Access to the first floor is provided from within the house.
