Description
Pope's Cottage is a pair of cottages, now converted into one house, built in 1833, likely for or by S. Pope. The building is constructed of ashlar granite and features a hipped slate roof with a brick end stack on the left. It has a double depth plan with two rooms, heated by end stacks, and two entrances located centrally on the front elevation. The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The two entrances are framed by dressed stone round arches, with a datestone above that reads 'AD 1833 S Pope.' The 16-pane sash windows to the right, left, and above have been renewed in the 20th century. There is also a porch extension added to the right-hand side wall. The cottage is situated at the northeast corner of the village green.
