Description
Beechtree Cottage is a building that was originally two cottages, converted into one house, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a bitumen-coated rag and scantle slate roof with gable ends. There is a stone rubble end stack on the left and a stone rubble axial stack near the center. The original layout consisted of a pair of one-room cottages, each likely having an entrance on the right that led into a stair hall, with the main heated room on the left. The right-hand cottage may be slightly older. There are 19th and 20th-century outshot extensions at the rear. In the mid to late 20th century, the two cottages were combined into a single dwelling. The exterior is two storeys high with a regular two-window front. The ground floor has a 20th-century window to the left, a four-panel door, and a 20th-century window to the right next to a blocked door opening. The first floor features two 20th-century windows. The rear has 19th and 20th-century outshot extensions. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is located to the west of the village green.
