Description
Far View is a house built in the late 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a bitumenised slate roof with gable ends and a hipped roof over the rear wing. The house has a two-room plan, with the entrance directly into the room on the right; both rooms are heated by gable end stacks. There is a one-room wing at the rear left, also heated by an end stack. Originally, the house functioned as a pair of attached houses before being converted into a single dwelling. There is a later lean-to in the angle between the wing and the main range, along with a 20th-century addition to the left side.
The exterior is two storeys high with two windows. The ground floor features a central half-glazed door with a 20th-century hood. To the left on the ground and first floors are 16-pane sash windows, while the ground floor on the right has a 2-light 8-pane casement and the first floor has a 2-light 2-pane casement. All ground floor windows have plain granite lintels. There is a rendered single-storey lean-to to the left with a 2-light casement at the front. The left side also has a rendered lean-to with a 2-light casement at the rear, and the rear wing has a 2-light casement on the first floor. The right side features a curved oven at the base of the stack and a straight joint leading to the rear lean-to, which is single storey and has a 2-light casement. The rear of the house has no windows, and the rear lean-to forms a catslide roof with the main range. The interior has not been inspected.
