7/361 Stables adjoining Trenethick - Barton Farmhouse

GV II*

Stables with hayloft. Circa late C17. Dressed coursed elvan over granite ashlar plinth, granite dressings. Steep asbestos slate hipped roof sweeping lower at rear. Cast-iron ogee-section gutters. Plan: Rectangular plan with fireplace at either end of large ground floor room, hayloft above. Integral single storey outshut at rear with waggon shed on the left and stable or tack house on the right. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 2 window south front with central doorway and loading doorway over high plinth, mid floor string. Original opening. Ground floor openings have coursed jambstones and lintels. First floor openings have chamfered coursed jambstones, segmental arched heads to the 2-light mullioned windows and flat headed arch over 2 small centres to the wide loading doorway. Old ledged doors with overlights. Probably C20 windows. Interior has chamfered and stopped softwood cross beams and chamfered granite fireplaces (now blocked). Roof structure not inspected.
