Description
The stables located directly to the north of Treludick are likely from the early 19th century, although they may incorporate materials from an earlier building. Constructed from stone rubble with brick dressings, the stables feature a slate roof with hipped ends. The overall rectangular plan includes a central entrance, with an entrance to the loft on the right side and a later 20th-century outshut added across the rear. Originally designed with complete stalls and looseboxes, the stables are now used as shippons as of 1987.
The exterior is two storeys high and features an almost symmetrical three-window front. The central entrance has a reset granite four-centred arch that bears the initials IBMB, representing the Baron family, along with a datestone dated 1641. There is a studded plank door with studs that form a datestone dated 1862, complete with strap hinges. To the left, there are two blind window openings, while the right side has two 20th-century windows in the original openings. The first floor has three nine-pane windows, and there is a reset granite chamfered doorframe at the right end. The interior has not been inspected.
