EGLOSKERRY SX 28 NE 8/337 Pigshouses, pumphouse and butterwell directly to south of Treludick

GV II

Row of pigshouses and pumphouse and butterwell. Probably early C19. Stone rubble. Rag slate roof with hipped ends. Plan: Row of pigshouses with attached pump house forming an overall rectangular plan. Stands close to the back door of the service wing of Treludick (qv), the pigshouses on the left with feeding holes facing the house and the pump house on the right. Further to the right of the pump house is a butterwell which is built into the bank to the rear of the house. Exterior: Single storey range with continuous rag slate roof. Four plank doors to the feeding holes for the pigshouses, each with a granite surround. Plank double doors to the pump house on right. Further to the right is the butterwell which has a plank door on the front. Interior: Pumphouse with C19 pump. The butterwell has complete slate shelves. The butterwell and pigshouses are still used for their original purpose and the group remains intact and unaltered.
