Description

This is a pair of adjoining houses, including front garden walls, gate piers, a gate, and railings. They were likely built in the mid to late 19th century. The walls are of roughly coursed killas stone with granite dressings. The left-hand house, Eeko Villa, has a 20th-century concrete tile hipped roof, while the other house, Trelubbus Villa, has an original grouted scantle slate hipped roof. Brick chimneys rise from the side walls and the party wall. Cast-iron gutters are in place. The houses have double-depth plans. The right-hand house projects forward and features a covered passage on its left side. Both houses share similar plans: two front rooms flank a central entrance hall leading to a stair hall, which in turn opens to rear service rooms. Farm buildings stand in front of the adjoining right-hand corner. The houses are two stories high. The right-hand house has granite lintel bands. Eeko Villa has a 20th-century front door and original hornless 12-pane sash windows; Trelubbus Villa has an original four-panel door, overlight, and likely original 12-pane horned sash windows. The interior was not inspected. The front gardens are bordered by a high wall on the left featuring dressed granite battlements, a farm building on the right, and a low retaining wall parallel to the house fronts. The road slopes down to the left. The retaining wall has rubble footings and a dressed granite plinth for the railings. A right-hand gateway has round-headed granite piers, supporting an original wrought-iron gate. Original wrought-iron railings with floret finials are also present. A round-headed doorway is set into the left-hand wall. A Victorian letterbox is built into the front of the farm building on the right.
