Lychgate And Adjacent Pump At Approx 100M. South Of Church Of Saint Just

The lychgate, first built in 1632 and possibly rebuilt in the early 19th century, is located approximately 100 meters south of the Church of Saint Just. It is constructed of dressed slatestone and features a low-pitched scantle slate roof with cusped wooden bargeboards. The structure is square in plan with only side walls and includes a covered walkway running north to south. The dressed stone jambs are connected by segmental arched wooden lintels with moulded edges, and plain plaster gables are positioned above. Inside, there is a granite cattle grid (with the spaces now filled), side ledges with wooden seats, and a roof structure that has a 2-bay arch braced design incorporating reused oak. Additionally, there is a cast iron stand pump located about 2 meters to the southeast.
