SW 83 NW ST JUST IN ROSELAND ST JUST

2/113 Lychgate and adjacent pump at - approx 100M, south of Church of Saint Just GV II

Lychgate. First built 1632, possibly rebuilt circa early C19. Dressed slatestone with low pitched scantle slate roof with cusped wooden bargeboards. Square on plan with side walls only. Covered walkway north-south. Dressed stone jambs linked by segmental arched wooden lintels with moulded edges and plain plaster gables over. Interior has granite cattle grid (spaces between now filled); side ledges with wooden seats and 2-bay arch braced roof structure incorporating reused oak. Including cast iron stand pump at approx 2 metres south-east.
