Description
Postmans and The Cottage is a pair of cottages, likely built in the 18th century, with extensions added in the mid to late 20th century. They are constructed from stone rubble with granite quoins and feature a steeply pitched slate roof with hipped ends and a gable end at the front. The original design has an overall 'T' shape, consisting of two one-room plan cottages that likely had entrances on the left and right sides, leading directly into the main rooms which share a central axial stack. The central projection on the front contains the two staircases. The Cottage on the right was extended at the rear in the mid to late 20th century.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an almost symmetrical three-window front, with a central gabled full-height stair projection. The two staircases share a central, likely 20th-century, two-light casement window with a dressed stone flat arch and a blind quatrefoil in the gable end. Postmans, on the left, features a probably 20th-century two-light casement on the ground floor and a 19th-century two-light casement on the first floor. The Cottage on the right has a similar window arrangement and also includes a 20th-century extension to the rear. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have a similar design to Lemarne, Mill Cottage, and Lower Mill Cottage.
