Barn About 5 Metres North East Of Farmhouse South Of Ivy Cottage

This is a barn, probably built in the early to mid-19th century, located about 5 metres northeast of a farmhouse south of Ivy Cottage in Luxulyan. The barn is constructed from granite rubble with large granite quoins and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends.

The building is two storeys high and has a cart entry on the right side and a smaller entrance on the left, likely for separate cells. The loft above is accessed by external steps at the back and includes a pigeon loft. The ground floor has a wide entrance on the right and a narrow doorway on the left, both with timber lintels, along with ventilation slits on either side of the narrow door.

On the upper level, there is a central deep loading door located under the eaves, with smaller loading doors to the right and left, also under the eaves. There are four square pigeon holes on each side of the central door. The left gable end features four pigeon holes at the upper level on the left side. The rear of the barn has an external stone stair leading to the central loading door under the eaves and a second loading door under the eaves to the right, along with a ventilation slit at ground level on the right side. The interior has not been inspected.
