3/34 Headstone of Mary Deacon 2m to - north of west tower of Church of St Ildierna

GV II Headstone. 1778. In memory of Mary, daughter of Richard and Mary Chapman and wife of Joseph Deacon. Slate headstone with rounded corners. Inscribed with angels head in roundel with finger pointing to hour glass and figure possibly depicting Cupid blowing arrows towards a heart. Lower case lettering with serifs. Verse below 'My friends so Dear Lament not. For me in Vain I was cut of as God did pleas'd He cut me of all in my Prime And left two Babbes here behind Pray my Dear Friends of them take care God will reward you never fear.'
