Description
This is a headstone located 7 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St Ildierna in Lansallos. It dates from between 1763 and 1778 and commemorates Mary, who died in 1763, and Anne, who died in 1778, both wives of John Pearce. The headstone is made of slate and features rounded corners. It is decorated with an incised design of an angel's head, a heart, and an hourglass. The inscription is in lower case lettering with serifs and includes a verse that reads: "With fervent Zeal we daily pray'd Unto the Lord on high Who of his goodness sent we aid And heard our mournful cry."
