Description

Lansallos Old Rectory is a rectory that has been converted into a private house. It likely has origins from the 17th century and was extended and remodeled in the mid-19th century. The building features partly rendered stone rubble and a scantle slate roof with hipped ends on the main range. There is a rear wing with a gabled end, and an additional extension at the angle of the rear wing and main range, which also has a hipped end. The structure includes projecting rendered chimney stacks with brick shafts at the hipped ends, and a 20th-century axial chimney stack on the ridge of the later projecting wing. The layout may originally have been a two-room plan with a through passage, extended to the rear with a projecting gabled wing on the left side. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor features two 19th-century 16-pane sash windows flanking a central rendered gabled porch with a slate roof, which contains a six-panelled door. Above, there are three 16-pane sashes aligned with the ground floor openings. The interior has not been inspected. Historical records from the Cornwall County Record Office mention the Lansallos parsonage in a collection of terriers from 1679-1680, describing a large hall from which two small rooms, known as the drink house and the bread house, were separated only by boards.
