Description
Glebe House is a rectory that has been converted into a private residence. It dates from the late 18th century and early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with a slate roof on the main block and a tile roof on the rest. It is two stories tall with an attic and features a double pile block, which includes a three-bay addition at one end and a long, one-and-a-half-story service range with five bays at the other.
The entrance front is irregular due to the 19th and 20th-century additions, including a wide lead roof porch supported by stone columns on the early 19th-century wing, adjacent to the 18th-century section. There is also a 19th-century bathroom wing nearby, and the windows are primarily from the 19th century, with dormers on the low service range.
On the garden front, the oldest part of the house has a projecting center with three bays. To the right, there is a lean-to summer loggia in front of the first bay of the service range, while to the left, there is a set-back 19th-century addition. The central part features a large niche, with low-silled 12-pane sash windows in recessed arches on either side. On the first floor at the end, there is a tall niche, with three 12-pane sashes, the center one being larger. The building has a stone cornice and a low parapet, along with two gabled dormers and large end stacks. The left-hand three-bay wing has six 12-pane sashes with louvred shutters, and the roof is hipped with a large stack on the left of the center.
