Description
Nippards is a farmhouse built in the late 18th century and early 19th century, with a date tablet indicating the year 1800. The building is made of painted brick and has a thatched roof, along with cast iron features. It is two storeys high with two main bays and an additional bay added to the right-hand side.
At the front, a brick wall extends from near each end of the building to form a boundary along the road, which is topped by cast iron railings. The central entrance features a six-panel door flanked by tall lights, all sheltered by a hood supported by openwork cast iron brackets. On either side of the door, there are 16-pane sash windows set under segmental arches. The first floor has a raised band on the older bays and wide 12-pane sash windows. The roof is hipped to the right-hand side, and there are chimney stacks on both the right and left end walls.
The walls at each end of the building are 10 meters long, with a low wall featuring a gate against the house on the left and a higher wall with a door on the right. The front wall has a low brick plinth topped with cast iron coping, which supports ornate railings featuring a top and bottom rail with arcading in between, each topped with a spearhead at the top of the arches. There is a central gate that matches the style of the railings.
