Description

The Old Rectory is a rectory that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century and was enlarged and remodeled in the mid-19th century, with the earliest part located to the right. The building features timber framing with painted brick infill on the right side, while the rest is constructed of painted brick, topped with ornamental tile roofs and brick stacks. It has a two-unit plan with a 19th-century gable-ended wing on the left.

The exterior is one and a half storeys high and has a three-window range arranged in a 1:2 pattern. There are some exposed panels of small square timber framing on the upper right part. The entrance is off-centre to the left and features a partly panelled door with margin lights and panelled glazed side panels, along with an overlight, all set within a brick porch that has bargeboards and a finial.

On the ground floor, starting from the left, there is a large canted bay window with wood mullioned and transomed windows. To the right are two canted bay windows with casement windows and hipped tile roofs, along with a small casement window in between that has a hoodmould and label stop. All windows are fitted with honeycomb glazing.

On the upper storey, from the left, there is a single wood casement window with a pointed brick head beneath the gable, which features bargeboards and finials. There are also two half-dormers with casements, bargeboards, and finials. Inside, the right part of the building has visible panels of square framing on the ground floor, although the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
