Description

Wolverton Court is a house demonstrating three distinct phases of construction, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, with later additions and remodelling in the 18th century and around 1912 by Clough Williams Ellis in a Queen Anne style. The left-hand section exhibits small timber framing with close studding to the ground floor, alongside a limestone plinth and an old tile roof. Diagonal brick ridge stacks are present. Leaded lights are also a feature. The central part has a roughcast exterior with a renewed tile roof. The right-hand part is also roughcast, with a hipped tile roof and a brick lateral stack. The house has a complex plan. The earliest section is single-storey plus attic, while a later portion is two storeys high. The main facade faces south. The central section has an entrance framed by a shell hood, while another entrance features a pedimented doorcase. Leaded casements appear on the right-hand side, renewed wood mullion-and-transom windows are found in the centre, and sashes and two-storey bays are visible in the left-hand section. The interior has not been inspected.
