Description

Tregenna Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse built of slatestone rubble with a scantle slate roof and brick chimneys over the gable ends. It has a central stair plan, originally comprising two rooms arranged double-depth. The south front has a three-window facade. The slightly off-centre left entrance has a six-panel door with glazed upper panels, set within a shallow, low-pitched, slate-roofed rubble porch. A wide opening to the right has a surviving 24-pane, three-light casement window. A 20-pane sash window in a square opening is set to the left. The first floor retains 12-pane, two-light original casement windows. All openings have wooden lintels, and the walls below the sills are finished with painted plaster aprons featuring incised arcading. The roof slopes lower at the rear, having been raised slightly, likely in the mid-19th century. The rear of the house has a back door and a blocked door, along with old casements and a sash window incorporating 18th-century casement glass to the stair window. Inside, the ground floor retains an original stone flagged floor, a large hearth with an oven and an adjacent curved recess at the east end, and another hearth at the west end. Original two-panelled doors, a post-and-panel partition, and original open beam ceilings to the ground floor are also present, along with a mid-19th century dogleg staircase.
