Description

Joseph's Cottage is a gardener's cottage, likely built in the 18th century, with later alterations. It was probably remodeled in a cottage orne style around the early to mid-19th century. The structure is made of stone rubble with granite quoins, and the rear wall is constructed in cob. It features a hipped thatched roof with a stack at the left end, which has a 20th-century brick chimney. The cottage has a two-room plan, with an off-centre entrance to the right. The larger room on the left is heated from the stack, while the smaller room on the right is unheated. All internal partitions and the upper floor were removed in the 20th century. The exterior is two storeys high, with a nearly symmetrical two-window front. All windows are early to mid-19th century two-light casements with cambered arches, lattice glazing, and L hinges. The door is cambered arched, featuring panels and studs. Both end walls and the rear of the cottage are blind. The interior has not been inspected.
