Description
Probably a gardener's cottage, dating from the mid to late 19th century. The cottage is constructed of stone rubble with a slate roof, featuring gable ends. A parallel range extends to the rear, also with gable ends, and there are brick end stacks to the left. The cottage has a two-room, double-depth plan. The front range has an entrance on the right, leading into a passage, with a principal room to the left, which is heated by an end stack. Service rooms are located in the rear range. The front elevation has a regular two-window design. It has probably original hornless sashes. A 20th-century door is on the right, over a chamfered granite lintel with a hood mould above. A 16-pane sash is to the left, also with a similar hood mould and lintel. Two 12-pane sashes are set within gabled half dormers to the first floor. A stone rubble garden wall is attached to the left. The interior was not inspected.
