Description
The ice house and ash house, located 20 metres north of Golden Manor, are possibly from the 18th century. Constructed from shale rubble and brick, the ice house features a horseshoe-shaped plan with thick walls to the north, which connects to the ash house that has a circular plan on the opposite side of the wall. Both structures are partially below ground level and retain remnants of domed corbelled roofs, with stone covering the ice house and brick covering the ash house. The ice house includes a north entrance accessed by three steps and has two keeping places located in the south and north walls. The ash house has a west entrance and a flue or smoke outlet in the south wall.
