Description

No. 40 Fore Street is a house that was possibly remodeled in the 18th century and again in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from rendered and painted stone rubble and features a cement-washed rag slate roof with gable ends. The building has a one-room plan with the entrance on the right, likely leading to a stair hall.

It stands two storeys high with an asymmetrical front that has a single window. On the ground floor, there is a tall 19th or 20th-century four-pane sash window on the left and a 20th-century stable-type door with a slate hood on the right. The first floor features a circa 20th-century four-pane sash window set in a gabled half-dormer. The interior has not been inspected. This house is included for its group value with other nearby buildings.
