Description
No 48, also known as Pebble, is a building located on Fore Street in Port Isaac. It is possibly two houses that have been combined into one. The structure is made of rendered, stuccoed, and painted stone rubble, topped with a slate roof that has gabled ends and raised eaves. There are rendered brick chimney stacks on the gable ends.
Originally, it may have been a pair of one-room cottages with entrances near the center, likely leading to stair halls. The building is two storeys high and features a regular two-window front. On the ground floor, there is a 19th-century 16-pane sash window on the left and a replacement 19th-century 16-pane sash window on the right. A 20th-century casement window is present in what appears to be a blocked left-hand entrance, with a 20th-century door to the right. The first floor has two 20th-century 16-pane horned sash windows in raked half-dormers above the original height of the eaves.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value due to its prominent elevation from the harbour.
