3/125 Implement shed at approx. 30 metres - south west of Carminowe Farmhouse

GV II

Implement shed or shelter shed. Circa 1860. Shale rubble walls with dressed granite quoins and jambstones and incorporating some reused late medieval fragments from the former Carminowe manor complex. Partly grouted scantle slate roof adjoining stables (qv), left, and with gable end, right. Rectangular plan with large doorway to front (north). Single storey. Nearly symmetrical north front with wide central doorway and slit ventilators at left. The main doorway has a chamfered softwood wall plate/lintel carried on jamb corbels. Slits are arched and constructed of reused medieval fragments, as is a triangular ventilator in the west gable and the ridge finial over. Carminowe was an important manor from the C13. Part of a virtually complete planned group of farm buildings.
