Threshing Barn On North-West Of Yard, 30 Metres To North West Of Wilkey Down

This is a threshing barn built around the 1840s, located 30 metres to the north-west of Wilkey Down in Werrington. The barn is constructed from stone rubble and features a rag slate roof with hipped ends on the front right and left.

The barn has an overall 'U' shaped plan, with the main range forming the north-west side of the yard and shallow wings extending to the right and left. It is two storeys high, with a symmetrical south-east elevation that faces the rear of the farmhouse. The ground floor has central wide doors, with shippon doors on either side flanked by window openings. Above these, there is a centrally placed loft door with a slate hood and symmetrically placed window openings to the right and left. The shallow front wings also have shippon doors on the ground floor and loft doors above. The openings are adorned with dressed stone segmental arches. The interior has not been inspected.
