Description
This building is a barn located 10 meters southeast of Higher Wringworthy Farmhouse, dating from around the 1840s. It is designed as a bank barn, featuring a shippon on the ground floor and a threshing floor above, with a probable stable to the left. The structure is made of stone rubble, with a slate-hung gable end on the right. The roof is covered with cement-washed scantle slate, featuring gable ends and a lower scantle slate roof on the left range.
The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a ramp leading up to a first-floor opening at the rear. The front is asymmetrical with two storeys; the ground floor has openings with dressed stone segmental arches. The left range has a plank door on the left and a window opening to the right, with a first-floor window located near the center. The main range features a plank door on the left, two windows flanking a wide, partly blocked opening to the left of center, and two wide door openings to the right.
On the first floor, there are double threshing doors near the center of the elevation, with a window opening to the left in a dressed stone arch, a two-light window opening with shutters below the eaves to the right, and a row of pigeon holes below the eaves to the left. A stone rubble ramp leads to the double threshing door at the rear. The interior has not been inspected. This barn is included for its group value with Higher Wringworthy Farmhouse.
