Description

Braydown Cottage is a cottage built around the mid-19th century. It is constructed from snecked stone rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends, along with rendered stone rubble flanking wings that have lower slate roofs with hipped ends. The cottage has rendered brick chimney stacks on the gable ends of the main range.

The layout consists of a central range with a two-room and cross passage plan, flanked by two one-room wings and an outshut at the rear that contains service rooms. The cottage is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front, with the central range set forward. All windows are original mid-19th century casements with glazing bars. The ground floor features two two-light casements with moulded frames in deep chamfered openings, flanking a central plank door located in a 19th-century open snecked stone rubble porch with a lean-to slate roof. A stone string course runs above the ground floor.

On the first floor, there are two two-light casements with moulded frames flanking a central one-light casement. The symmetrical two-storey wings have entrances at the angles with the main range. The left-hand entrance features a 19th-century part-glazed door with margin glazing bars in a rendered gabled porch. The front elevation of Braydown Cottage from the 19th century remains unaltered, and the fenestration is complete. The interior has not been inspected.
