WERRINGTON SX 38 NW 9/280 North Lodge to Polapit Tamar and - railings to front

Lodge and railings to front. Circa mid C19 extended in late C19 or C20. Stone rubble with granite and brick dressings. Slate roof with hipped and gable ends and deep overhanging eaves. Central moulded brick axial stack and end stack on right. Plan: The lodge is divided into two cottages of double depth 2-room plan, heated by a central axial stack. The left hand cottage has a shallow wing which projects from near the centre of the left hand side, flanked by two small verandahs and entrance in rear wall of wing. The right hand cottage has been extended to the right with an entrance in the right hand side of the front elevation. Exterior: 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical single window front with two C19 12-pane sashes with granite lintels on ground floor and gabled full dormer above in centre. The left hand side has a symmetrical front with central 2-storey projection with two 12-pane sashes on ground floor and 2-light casement above, flanked by two open porches with brick and stone rubble corner piers. The right hand elevation has a gable end possibly rebuilt in the C19 or C20. C19 cast iron railings to front and opposite side of road at entrance to Polapit Tamar (qv). Interior: Not inspected.
