Description
Primavera, formerly known as London Cottage, is a house dating from around the mid-18th century, with later additions from the late 18th century and some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble, with some areas slate-hung, and features a slurried slate roof with gable ends. It has gable end stacks, including a rubble shaft to the left, a truncated brick shaft to the right, and an axial stack with cornices.
The house has a three-room plan. The room on the left is heated by the gable end stack and has a porch entrance that leads directly into it. To the right, there are two additional rooms, with the axial stack backing onto the passage, and the end room on the right is heated by a gable end stack and built into the bank.
The exterior is two storeys high and features an asymmetrical five-window range, all of which are 20th-century casements. The first floor has five casements, while the ground floor includes a two-light casement with a cambered head and dripstone to the left, and a wide gabled porch with a slate-hung gable. The porch has an inner moulded doorframe with a plain door that includes a glazed panel and strap hinges. The wall breaks back to the right at the line of the axial stack, where there is a two-light casement with a dripstone, another plain door with a glazed panel and strap hinges, and a 20th-century window with a dripstone. An external stone stair at the front right leads to a higher ground level on the right side. The right side is slate-hung and has a 20th-century light at the first floor. The left side features an external stack, while the rear has a 20th-century window in the central room and a small single-storey lean-to on the right.
The interior is not accessible for inspection.
