Description
Rosecraddoc Manor is a house, likely dating from around 1840, with additions from the 19th century and subsequent alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble, rendered and lined out, with parts of the service range slate-hung. The roof is slate with gable ends and ridge tiles, featuring deep bracketed eaves and axial stacks.
The house has a double-depth plan, arranged with a central entrance and principal rooms to the front left and right. A central room and a rear right room, with a bow window, face the garden. The service range forms a U-plan to the left, with two projecting wings creating an inner courtyard. The style is Italianate.
The main front has two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay facade. The bays on either side project forward with triangular gables, each containing a large 12-pane sash window on both the ground and first floors. A central portico has Doric columns, an entablature, and a balustrade above, leading to double panelled doors with an overlight, sidelights with decorative glazing, and a moulded surround. A 2-light casement window is present at first floor level above the entrance. A lower two-storey service wing projects to the front left, featuring a 20th-century door. The front of this wing has two 20th-century casement windows at first floor. The right side of the house has three bays, featuring a central bow window. Ground and first floor windows on the right are 12-pane sashes; the bow window also has a 12-pane sash at ground and first floor. The rear has a bow to the left with pilasters and a balustrade, featuring plate-glass sashes on either side and a 20th-century window at first floor. To the right are two 12-pane sashes at ground and first floor. The left side displays the U-plan of the service range, including a one-room plan wing, now occupied separately. A central section has a cellar with a segmental-headed opening, and three 2-light casements with L hinges at first floor. Two flat-roofed dormers contain 2-light casements; the central range is slate-hung. The wing to the left is single storey, with a gable end stack, two 2-light casements with L hinges on the inner side, and a 20th-century porch. The front range has a 20th-century window and a 12-pane sash at first floor on the inner side, alongside a cellar door on the outer side. A single-storey shed is attached to the gable end. The interior was not inspected.
Rosecraddoc Manor is situated within landscaped gardens, with a drive leading south to a lodge, now a gate cottage.
