Description
Mayview Cottage and the adjoining cottage directly to the northwest of the Church of St Merryn are a pair of cottages with probable origins in the 17th century. They are constructed from dressed slate stone and feature an asbestos slate roof with gable ends and end stacks that have brick shafts. The original plan of the cottages is uncertain, but they are situated on the east side of The Green, right next to the parish Church of St Merryn. Each cottage has a one-room plan and is heated by end stacks, with central entrances.
The exterior of the cottages is two storeys high and almost symmetrical, with a two-window front that likely retains its original openings. There are two 20th-century doors in the center, a 19th-century two-light casement window to the left, and a 20th-century PVC window to the right. On the first floor, there is a late 19th-century or 20th-century four-pane sash window to the left and another 20th-century PVC window to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
