Description
This building is a cottage located 5 meters northeast of Bickham, likely dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and has an asbestos slate roof with gable ends, along with rendered stone rubble chimney stacks on the gable ends. Originally, it was two mirror-image one-room cottages with entrances to stair halls near the center of the elevation, but it has since been converted into a single cottage with the entrance now positioned to the right of center.
The cottage has an outshut on the left-hand gable end and features a two-storey, regular two-window front with 19th-century windows. The ground floor includes two two-light casements with glazing bars set below timber lintels. There is a blocked entrance to the left of center and an entrance to the right of center, which has a chamfered timber lintel with straight-cut stops, leading to a 20th-century plank door with a slate lean-to hood. The first floor has two two-light casements with glazing bars. Additionally, there is a 19th-century stone rubble lean-to outshut set back on the left-hand gable end, which has a plank door and a casement above. The interior has not been inspected. This cottage is included for its group value with Bickham.
