Description
The Gory Monument is a headstone located in the churchyard about 17 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of St. Mary and St. Julian. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The headstone features a segmental top that steps up at the corners, with a carved angel in Grecian costume on each side and a central carved dove holding a sprig of olive. The monument also displays stylised foliage in the centre and has good lettering. It commemorates Hannah Gory, who passed away in 1791.
