Description
This is an 18th-century headstone located approximately 3 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Mary. It is an upright stone slab that stands about 1.3 metres high. The headstone features a shaped top that is carved with scrolls and an hourglass, flanked by winged cherub heads. A panel on the stone is surrounded by a frame that is intricately carved with scrolled foliage, and a tassel divides the inscription into two halves. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, but it is so lightly incised that it is illegible except in perfect lighting conditions.
