Description

The Martyn Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 25 metres southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Carantoc. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of slate. The tomb has a plain rectangular shape with incised moulded pilasters on all sides. It features a flat top with a moulded edge, which has an inscription carved into it. The monument is set on an incised slate plinth and is dedicated to Mary Martyn, who passed away in 1844.
