Description

The Meare monument is a chest tomb located about 12 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St Mary in Mary Tavy. It dates from the late 17th century and is made of granite. The tomb features a flat top with a square-cut edge and may have been reset on a later base. It has raised capital lettering carved around the border and additional lettering in the center, although not all of it is legible. The monument is dedicated to Mary, the wife of Roger Meare.
