Description

The piggery and adjoining outbuildings, located approximately 10 meters west of Pengersick Castle, date from the mid-19th century. Constructed from granite rubble, which is partly painted, these buildings feature an axial brick chimney situated between the piggery and the swill kitchen. The layout consists of an irregular grouping of rectangular single-storey structures, with the piggery containing three separate pens and the swill kitchen located at the western end. The north front of the piggery has four doorways, one for each pig's house, along with a feeding hatch next to each doorway and an additional doorway leading to the swill kitchen on the far right. This piggery is a notable example of its type from the 19th century and is closely associated with Pengersick Castle.
