Description

This is a detached mine chimney located at the Sidney Godolphin Mine (east), dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed from granite rubble and brick, featuring a round plan. The chimney is tall and tapered, primarily made of rubble, with a polychrome banded brick section at the upper part that rises to a machicolated cornice. The Sidney Godolphin mine was a tin mine that operated from around 1827 to 1853, with work resuming on one or possibly two occasions afterwards.
