Description

This building is a house located in Linkinhorne, dated 1823, with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed from painted stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof on the left side, while the right side has a slate roof with ridge tiles, including some handmade ridge tiles. The gable ends have a stack on the right and an axial stack on the left.

The house has a two-room plan arranged over two levels, following the slope of the ground. The higher room on the right is heated by the gable end stack and has an entrance directly into it. The lower room on the left is heated by the axial stack.

The exterior is two storeys tall with two different roof levels. On the right side, there are two 2-light casements with six panes each on the first floor, one of which has L hinges. The ground floor features a plain door with a pitched hood and a similar 2-light casement to the right, which has a plain granite lintel. The lower range on the left side has two brick openings with segmental heads at the ground floor, one of which is blocked, and the other has a 20th-century 2-light casement inserted. The first floor on this side has a 2-light six-pane casement with L hinges, and there is a narrow single light at the ground floor to the left.

A datestone on the first floor to the left bears the carved initials CJP and the date 1823. The right side has a single-storey lean-to with a door featuring strap hinges and a corrugated iron roof. The left side is blind and has a buttress. The rear and interior of the building have not been inspected.
