Description
This milestone, dating from 1764, is located 100 metres north of the junction of the A390 with the B3255 in Callington. It is made of granite and has a rectangular shape with a tapered section and a rounded head. The milestone is inscribed with "4 1/3 Furlongs to Callington Market Gate" in partly lower case lettering, which is noteworthy. There is also a bench mark below the inscription. It is set in a hedge along Liskeard Road, where the old coach road from Newbridge met Wonnacroft, and it is positioned on the turnpike road leading into Callington, established under the Turnpike Act of 1804.
