8/9 Milestone, loom north of junction of A390 with B3255

Milestone. 1764. Granite rectangular post with tapered section and rounded head. Inscribed: 4 1/3 Furlongs to Callington Market Gate L.8. Lettering, partly lower case and noteworthy. Bench mark below. Set in hedge on Liskeard Road where The Old Coach road from Newbridge came out at Wonnacroft. On turnpike road leading into Callington (4 Geo III c48) William Albert The Turnpike Road System in England 1663-1840 1972 Shelia Lightbody The Book of Callington 1982.
